The road trip we’re taking this summer is a journey into our relationship with God. This series is about pursuing authentic, life-giving experiences with God in the normal course of life. Each sermon teaches a different mile-marker and spiritual direction for us to follow.
We want to encourage and equip each of you to keep following Jesus on your life’s journey. The modern society and culture of our day has normalized sin, so much so that it is considered backwards or old fashioned to call oneself a follower of Jesus. From every direction we are being told what to believe, what is normal and what is true, even when it is in direct opposition to Scripture.
Our key passage will be 1 Corinthians 16:13-14, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” The first four commands are the “what” in our road trip theme (be on guard; stand firm; be courageous; be strong). We are given clear instructions in Scripture as to what we should be doing in our journey. The final command gives us the “how” we should be doing what God commands (do everything in love). Paul reminds us about the importance of how we live earlier in 1 Corinthians, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
We look forward to seeing you every Sunday at Oakwood Community Church. Please invite family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and whoever you know to join us for our summer road trip sermon series.
