Hello Great Family,

The State of the Church address was last Sunday but weather and technology issues has kept many from hearing what is on the heart of Oakwood Community Church.  If you have not heard this talk, please check it out by clicking here or going to www.oakwoodcc.org and searching for the State of the Church address under “Messages”.  We want you to be informed and get engaged!

One of the things emphasized last Sunday was our need for more servants.  Where are you consistently serving?  Would you consider serving on a team?  Here is a ministry area where we need immediate help:

  • TREEHOUSE – Wednesdays 6pm – 8pm January 19 through February 23
    • We need adult Huddle Leaders – responsible for a huddle of kids (4 to 6 kids).  No teaching responsibilities. Just leading your huddle through the evening.
    • We need adult Huddle Helpers – Helping the Huddle leader…getting their huddle group to the destinations during our rotation hour (games, crafts, experiment).  Huddle Leaders and Helpers will stay actively involved with the kids during each activity.
    • We need teen Huddle Helpers – These teens help the adults with their huddles.

Let’s make sure we have this energetic ministry for kids fully staffed.  Sign-up at the “Oak” this Sunday.  There will be a meeting for all Treehouse leaders and helpers this Wednesday 6pm at the church.

You have two more Sundays to sign-up for Family Night adult breakout sessions.  Family nights run for six weeks and start on January 19th.  We are offering two options for adults:

  • Prayer – “Does It Make Any Difference”
    • Prayer is the priceless point of contact between us and God. It can also be frustrating, confusing, and mysterious. This six-week video series is taught by renowned Christian author and teacher, Philip Yancey and led by various people from one of our own small groups that have gone through this material.
  • Parenting – “Christ-Centered Parenting”
    • Designed to help you lead your children and teens through the cultural issues of our day in a confident and responsible way. This six-week video series is intended to equip you to face the challenges presented by the culture.  As the world around us continues to shift and become more secular, we want to prepare you and your children to meet these moral and ethical challenges.  Pastor Don and Julie Jackson will be leading this series.

We need you to sign-up soon so that we can order enough material and choose the appropriate room locations for each group.  Go to the “Oak” on Sunday to sign-up or you can take care of this right now by clicking your choice below and completing the online form.

This Sunday we start our four-week series called, “PRAY!”.  Please attend either the 9am or 11am service to participate.  Don’t forget we will also be doing the Stec family send-off between services. Stay after the 9am or come early to the 11am to be involved.

God Bless,
P.D. (Psalm 139)
