SONshine Park (K-5th)
Children's Ministries are available during the 11:00 am worship service.

SONshine Park is Oakwood’s Sunday morning program for children. It provides a nurturing environment where kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade can grow spiritually and develop godly values in an age-appropriate environment.

  • Lower Elementary (Lower Level Acts Room) - Our younger kids start their morning singing praises to the Lord with music that is designed for their ages. Then, our dedicated leaders use a Bible-based curriculum to engage kids with large group lessons and small group discussions to help them make connections between the truth of God’s Word and their own lives. SONshine Park is a place where Jesus Christ is honored through praises, lessons, prayers and actions!
  • Upper Elementary (Lower Level Student Ministry Room) - Students check-in and head downstairs, then journey with their class to the Worship Center, where they join with our teens and adults for a time of worship & singing.  Then they head downstairs for Bible teaching, group discussions and activities designed to encourage their faith and help them grow in the relationship with Jesus.
Parent Cue

Oakwood partners with Orange for a Bible-based curriculum that is fun and engaging for kids. Resources are provided to help parents continue the Sunday morning teaching at home. Orange says, "When the light of the church (yellow) combines with the heart of the home (red) you get a stronger, more vibrant impact in the life of a kid (orange)."

I have attended Oakwood and been involved at some level in the children's ministry for about 30 years. My husband, Leo, and I have been married for 39 years, live in Clarkston and raised two sons, Lance and Lyle.

I work full-time in Property Management / Lease Administration as a Financial Controller for a local Commercial Real Estate Developer.  In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, scrapbooking, golf, riding motorcycles and spending time with our large extended family.

I am truly thankful for the opportunity to work with the children in and around our community. Serving our Savior in the children's ministry at Oakwood over the years, getting to know so many wonderful people and reaching children with the gospel of Christ continues to be one of my greatest blessings.
