Great Oakwood Family,

Day Three…Hope & Help for the Oxford community!  Sorry this is so late but I just got home.

Here is what Oakwood did today:

  • We gave $800.00 to Signarama to help pay for the signs they are giving out for free.
  • We gave $250.00 to Firmly Rooted Ministries to help with the cost of coffee they are giving to people for free.
  • We are helping and supporting the leaders of the prayer vigil happening tomorrow.
  • I have been at the Legacy Center serving whatever needs arise (carrying food, taking out trash, moping up spills, talking to hurting people)
  • Several servants from our great family have served at the Legacy Center throughout the day making sure our community has a safe place (no media allowed) for kids to be kids and be together.
  • Pastor Ben spent time at the Legacy Center talking to students.  He also met with parents and students tonight at a dance studio with Kyleigh.
  • We put more work into a plan to bless the Oxford High School staff (teachers, counselors, administrators, support) with a Christmas gift. (more info coming…we will need your help!)

Here is what needs to happen tomorrow:

  • The Legacy Center is going to continue opening for Oxford families for free on Friday 12pm – 7pm and volunteers are welcomed.  Just show up in the middle area near the go-karts and offer your help to the ladies serving food…they will put you to work.
  • Urban Air needs volunteers in order to stay open…if you want to help contact Ryan Boyer at (248)961-9857.  He will work out a schedule and tell you what to do.
  • Friday at 6:30pm Community Prayer Vigil in downtown Oxford.
    • Attend and participate to share the love of Jesus with our community.
    • Oakwood is providing the Oakwood family a shuttle from the church parking lot from 5:00pm – 6:15 to the vigil and back to the church afterward.
    • We encourage you to come to Oakwood before going downtown even if you aren’t using our shuttle service.
    • We will have the following things at Oakwood for our great family to hand out to the crowd downtown:
      • Individual tissue packs
      • Candles (the organizers might not have enough for the crowd)

Again, I encourage you to attend church this Sunday for an important message from God’s Word for this troubled time.  Invite hurting people to come with you.  Now’s the time!  Don’t miss this opportunity!  Two services 9am & 11am.

Thank you for being a caring church! Now let’s “BE” the church and show up and serve!

God Bless,
P.D. (Psalm 139)
