Hello Great Family,
It was Halloween, I stood in front of the mirror wearing a homemade astronaut costume my mom had made from things around the house (picture attached). My silver suit shimmered under the bedroom light, my helmet tucked beneath my arm, and a big smile stretched across my face.
“Mom, do you think I could really be an astronaut someday?” I asked. My mom knelt beside me and smiled. “Of course you can dream of becoming an astronaut! It will take hard work, learning, and patience. But never stop dreaming about what you might become.”
That night, as I walked from house to house collecting candy, I imagined floating among the stars, exploring distant planets, and looking back at Earth from a spaceship. To everyone else, I was just a little boy dressed up for Halloween. But inside my heart, I was already reaching for the heavens.
Sometimes God places dreams in our hearts long before we understand how they might come true. A child might dream of becoming an astronaut, a doctor, a teacher, a firefighter, a pastor, or a missionary. Those dreams remind us that the future is full of possibilities.
But dreaming is only the beginning. Becoming an astronaut takes studying, perseverance, courage, and a willingness to keep going when things get difficult. In much the same way, our walk with God requires faith, patience, and a willingness to trust Him one step at a time.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God has plans for His people and offers us hope for the future. It doesn't promise that every childhood dream will happen exactly as we imagine it. Instead, it reminds us that we can trust God as we grow, learn, and discover the purpose He has for our lives.
Here's the beautiful truth: We don't have to see the whole journey to take the next step. The little child doesn't need to know how to build a rocket tonight. They simply need to keep learning, keep dreaming, and keep trusting God. And whether they someday walk on the moon or discover a different calling, they can know that their life has value and purpose.
Dream boldly. Don't be afraid to imagine what God might do through your life.
Work faithfully. Take small steps today toward the person you hope to become tomorrow.
Pray continually. Ask God for wisdom, direction, and courage along the way.
Trust patiently. Remember that God's plans may look different from yours, but you can seek Him in every season.
Please join in and serve at our Harvest Fest event. Let's let kids dream! Let's let families know that Oakwood cares about children and God loves children. You might just meet the next astronaut, doctor, teacher, firefighter, pastor, or missionary.
God Bless,
