Hello Great Family,

I have a desire to help recharge and refocus our great family at Oakwood Community Church.  The winter has been long and difficult (currently looking out my window at a snowy, windy mess). Every organization can suffer "Mission Drift" over time if their goals and priorities are not communicated consistently. Today, I want to share with you where Oakwood is doing well and what our focus needs to be moving forward.

Where we are doing well:

  • Attendance is strong - thank you for making attending every Sunday a priority.
  • Participation is good - we are blessed to have healthy participation in our ministries.
  • Giving is positive - we thank God for your generosity.

Where we need to have our focus:

  • Gospel Outreach - we can have a greater impact in our community by inviting people to attend Oakwood and sharing the Gospel at every opportunity. Easter is April 5th... invite everyone you can think of to attend our Good Friday service (12pm) and Easter morning worship (9am & 11am). May God use us to be effective!
  • Paving The Road Ahead - we are excited to have this project completed this spring! We are planning a dedication service for Service Park and the "P.B.&J. Pavilion" at our annual celebration on Sunday, June 7th (11am only). We have received around half of our $300,000.00 needed goal for this project. In order to keep our focus on meeting this goal, we are limiting the requests for special giving. Let's make a consolidated effort to push this over the finish line by the dedication at our annual celebration.
  • Spiritual Growth - we are encouraging you to self-determine where you are at on your journey as a Disciple of Jesus. I encourage you to make the most of every opportunity designed to take you from where you currently are to where Jesus would have you be. Attend church, participate in a community group, take advantage of ministries like Celebrate Recovery and Grief Share, go to a Bible study, attend our Family Night sessions for adult equipping groups. Don't forget to have your children attend SonShine Park and Treehouse! Your growth will be determined by the action you take.

Looking forward to preaching Acts chapter 14 this Sunday. Hope to see you here!

God Bless,
P.D. (Psalm 139)
