Hello Great Family,

Being on blood thinners this year has been annoying. I never realized how many nicks and cuts I achieved on a daily basis just doing my normal tasks. Every time I go work in the garage or yard I return with blood running down my leg or arm and most of time I couldn't even tell you what happened or when. Julie looks at me and declares, "You're bleeding again". Off to the bathroom I go to clean, sterilize, apply neosporin and a band-aid. Same routine almost every day.

The worst has been when I hit the top of my head. I do this a lot! We have been working on our deck this summer which has had me under the deck many times and each time I end up smacking my head on the wood joists. Never in a location where I have hair to pad the blow. I have been taking the full shot right to my bald spot and then the blood begins to flow. I have wound upon wound on the top of my head right where everyone can see.

Yesterday, I had one more project that would have me under the deck for an extended period of time. We joked that I needed a hard hat. Instead, I asked Julie to come with me and to be my spotter. All she had to do is watch me ducking under the joists and yell, "LOWER" if I was getting too close to smashing my melon. It worked! I never hit my head even once. I stayed clear of all obstacles and came out unscathed.

The lesson for me was clear. When I work alone, I go too fast and I lose track of where I'm at. I'm so focused on a task that end up plowing into immovable object with my skull. But, with someone at my side who is watching out for me, warning me of impending doom, I got the job finished without the pain.

Let me ask you this question, "Who is your person?" Do you have someone in your life that is helping you and watching out for your soul? I don't believe we were ever intended to do life alone. When we go rogue, we tend to go to fast and not pay attention to the dangers and eventual consequences. You and I need someone's help spiritually and we need to ask for that help.

Ephesians 4:9-12 says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken." Let me encourage you today. Find your person and invite them into your world. Also, be that person for someone else too. We all need each other. Without help, you might just keep knocking your noggin'.
