Hello Great Family,

This Sunday in our, "Giants Must Fall" series, we are going to tackle the giant of PRIDE. I sent out a request for additional topics to cover and pride was mentioned the most. So, we will dig in God's Word tomorrow morning and watch this giant fall.

Maybe you don't think pride is your giant. Well, how are you doing relying on and submitting to other people in your life? One of the extensions of pride is, "Self-Sufficiency". Many people believe they are humble but will not subject themselves to living in community. Scripture tells us we need each other. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says, "Two people are better than one. They get more work done. If one falls, the other helps up." Yet, many people struggle with the concept of the, "one another’s" in Scripture. The Bible simply teaches that we need each other and were created to live in community.

The 2000 film, Cast Away starring Tom Hanks illustrates our deep need for relationships. When main character Chuck Noland is stranded alone on an island, physical survival is not enough. His desperate need for social connection drives him to paint a bloody handprint face onto a volleyball named Wilson and treat it as a real friend. Talking to Wilson helps Chuck keep his mind and hope alive. Then tragedy strikes and losing Wilson at sea breaks Chuck's heart (I remember crying in the theater during that emotional scene). It shows that love and friendship matter just as much as food and water.

I encourage you to do a little self-assessment to see how your doing actually living in humility. Are you surrendered to doing life together with fellow believes or are you stranded on an island starved for relationships? You can't obey God's, "one another" commands by doing life alone.
