Hello Great Family,
This is a late communication, but I have lots of excuses. I'm trying to pack for a trip to Malawi and Dubai... today I had to drive over to Lansing to see my grand baby (her Mom came too)... I also have a wedding to perform this afternoon... and on and on and on the excuses go.
This made me think of the potential excuses people may have for not attending church. I asked Alexa and she gave me a list of excuses people give for avoiding Sunday services:
Practical & Scheduling Conflicts
Work: You have to work on Sundays or other days church services are held.
Busy schedules: You have a demanding week with various commitments.
Vacation: You're traveling and away from your usual place of worship.
Childcare: You have young children who are difficult to manage for services.
Family obligations: Relatives or friends are visiting, or you have other family events to attend.
Personal & Emotional Reasons
Needing rest: Sundays are your only day to sleep in or relax.
Feeling unwell: You have a contagious illness (like the flu) and don't want to spread it.
Feeling down/depressed: You're feeling low, depressed, or simply don't have the energy.
Religious trauma/Disillusionment: You've been hurt or burned by the church community.
Introversion: You might have a strong need for alone time and can feel overwhelmed by crowds.
Beliefs & Criticisms of Church
Judgmental or unfriendly people: You find the community to be unwelcoming or hypocritical.
Worshiping elsewhere: You believe you can worship God anywhere, not just in a church building.
Lack of connection: You don't feel connected to the people.
Other Reasons
Online services: You watch services or messages online instead of attending in person.
There are lots of excuses but it comes down to this... We make choices and choices become habits. Here's the deal... drop the excuses and get to church! We need you here and you need to be here. That's the way God designed it!
I dropped my excuses and wrote my weekly email... now I'll see you tomorrow at 9am or 11am.
God Bless,
P.D. (Psalm 139)
